Violations in different parts of Syria during the month of July, 2017. The violations varied between beatings, assaults and arrests after being targeted in the course of their media work by various bodies, namely Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, according to the Syrian Center for Press Freedoms in its monthly report.
The center documented in July the killing of media activist Musab Waleed al-Ezzo by Tahrir al-Sham in Saraqib in Idlib countryside. Also, reporter of Russia Today Channel Khaled al-Khatib was killed by ISIS bombing on Homs province and by this the center documented killed media professionals number rises to 411 since March 2011.
Contrary to previous months, Tahrir al-Sham, one of the biggest Islamist factions in northern Syrian and opposing the Assad regime, took first place for the first time in July in those responsible of committing violations by perpetrating 5 violations. The Assad regime came in second place by committing 3 violations with ISIS following in third place by perpetrating 2 violations, while the Democratic Union Party was responsible of committing one violation.
